last night i had the pleasure of going to the opening of a lillian bassman show at paul smith, possibly the most beautiful store in la. not only did i get to see a bunch of old friends and meet and chat to the incredibly talented and nice gary oldman and his stunning wife alexander, but i got to see ms bassman's photgraphs close up. i love the illustrative quality of them. she was way ahead of her time...sadly she couldn't make it, she's 93 and a little frail. but wow! amazing work!
