daily inspiration #160

i'm absolutely in love with everything about this photo. believe it or not, it was taken from a collection of photos dated 1910-1940! to me it looks to be late '20s or early '30s looking at the shirt collars..but these guys could easily fit into todays world...look at the worn boots, the homburg hat, the shawl collared sweater! ralph lauren eat your heart out!

daily inspiration #159

there has always been an arguement in menswear as to whether it's right to wear a blazer, shirt and tie with jeans. purists hate it, but when you see something executed as well as the pic above, i think it's a hard argument to win!
great tonal colour combination, and the wash of the jeans and belt add to the sartorial irreverance of the outfit. i only hope he has the matching pants, as that would be one killer suit!

may have to call my tailor...

daily inspiration #157

art plays a big part in my life...our walls are full of it, i use it as inspiration for work. really loving this piece. look closely, it's not photoshopped, but painted perspective...amazing! anyone have any idea who the artist is?

daily inspiration #156

green is the new black. at least that's what i'm starting to see! whether it be something as striking as the summer suit at top, (great combo btw!) or the more traditional covert coat seen below, lets add some colour to our wardrobe this year guys!

daily inspiration #155

whilst i applaude anyone who embraces the sartorial world, there are a few rules that can't be broken, the main one being fit. i love the combo this guy has on, but it's all way too tight. the key to tailoring is having a streamlined look that doesn't look like a batsuit! here, the shoulders are too small, the bicep of the jacket too tight, as are the thigh and knee in the pants. A+ for coordination though!

daily inspiration #154

not a photo this time you'll notice, but a link to a great short film on how sette, a bespoke tie company in como, italy make their ties. i love the shots of the machinery, and the rolls of tie fabrics are beautiful!
enjoy...
